What is a Casino?

A Casino is a public place where games of chance can be played and where gambling is the primary activity. While musical shows, lighted fountains and shopping centers help draw patrons in, the billions of dollars that casinos earn annually come from their games of chance.

Casinos use a variety of techniques to enforce their rules and ensure the fairness of their games. Security cameras and electronic surveillance systems are widely used. Some casinos even monitor patrons’ hands at card tables to ensure that they are not cheating. Casinos also use other technological advances, such as chip tracking that allows casinos to electronically monitor bets minute-by-minute and quickly discover any statistical deviation from expected results.

The Bellagio in Las Vegas is probably the best known casino in the world, largely due to its role as the setting for the movie Ocean’s 11. The luxury hotel-casino features an impressive selection of table games and slot machines and offers a variety of luxurious perks for high rollers. Aside from the gambling, the casino has a wide range of restaurants, luxurious accommodations and entertainment options.
